ASICS Gel-Kayano 14

The Kayano line is named after Toshikazu Kayano, the ASICS designer behind the original in the early 1990s. The 14th edition arrived in 2008 as a serious stability running shoe. When ASICS brought it back as a lifestyle trainer, it became one of the defining shoes of the Y2K runner revival, and Kayanos are now one of the most recognisable trainers on UK streets.

The design

The Kayano 14 is built from a mesh base with layered synthetic overlays, many of them in silver or metallic finishes. The midsole is sculpted and visibly technical, with GEL cushioning in the heel and forefoot. It looks more complex than the Gel-1130, and it feels a little more substantial on foot too.

Our colourways

White Graphite Grey, White Ivory and White Light Navy are the clean, easy options. Cream Sweet Pink, Cream Raw Indigo and Metropolis Jasper Green bring in colour, while Black Pure Silver, Concrete Pure Silver, Dolphin Grey Pure Silver and Cloud Grey lean into the silver look. We also have two special pairs: the Urban Research collaboration and the Unlimited Pack Oyster Grey.

Kayano 14 or Gel-1130?

Choose the Kayano 14 if you want the more technical, statement version of the ASICS runner look. Choose the Gel-1130 for a lighter, simpler everyday shoe.
